What a lovely pheasant! There's a bird sanctuary about 150 miles from here and if one goes at the right time the pheasants are plentiful. We went out on the road that runs thru the sanctuary(the speed limit is about 5 miles an hour. As you pass by the fields, their heads pop up out of the grasses and they watch very carefully as you drive by. I never saw one that close up, tho.
This one has a mate, and they both wander around the garden most of the day. Doesn't usually come up to the door though. Think he was seeing his reflection in the glass as it was so sunny. Lots around in this area.
How gorgeous! Here in the desert our birds are mostly dust-colored (which is part of their cleverness in surviving), so it's nice to see such beautiful markings.
Are they as stupid over in the east of the country as they are in Dorset? I love how they stick their necks in the air, oooo it's a car I'd better get out of the way...sometime tomorrow will do....ooooo it's the vicar doing the mad sunday dash, let's slow her down.
