... on June 30th, I was ordained Deacon in the Cathedral church of Salisbury. It's been an interesting journey from there to here. I certainly have less hair - and that cassock has long since gone to dust!
(And before you ask - I'm on the extreme left of the photo - though I can't recall my hair ever looking THAT ginger!)

Thought of you as we attended an ordination there this Petertide (21 ordinands) and walked in your footsteps along this very length of the Close.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, SR! You had quite a luxuriant mane back in the day.
ReplyDeleteYou were deacons once...and young.
Still am a deacon actually. Priesthood is a second-stage, but it doesn't do away with the first, and that fits comfortably with my understanding of ordained ministry.
ReplyDeleteA famous picture that. Looking at those faces: 25 years on you are probably one of those few individuals who has not been divorced, disciplined, had license suspended, etc. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThere's time yet ....
ReplyDeleteI don't want to rub it in, but I can still wear the cassock in which I was ordained. It's a little tight, but bearable.
ReplyDeleteOh shut up ...
